Alright, I'm not THAT cynical, but seriously, certain thing just get to me sometimes. You live your pretty life and think you've got some principles, values. No, you'll never fall below that, this only happens to others, right? And then BAM! The foundation you thought would never move, is lying there in pieces. Shattered, dusty, and COMPLETELY unappealing. What's sad, you know it's not the first time. You step over the dusty pieces and move on. I guess that something wasn't that important in the end.
Tough.
Speaking of values, I just ate some ice cream from my in-laws' freezer...while they were gone. What's worse, I didn't stop then and took two (not even one) pieces of their cheese. This is so low. Of course at the time I was rationalizing it by saying to myself that a LONG time ago they've said something about it being OK to go through their fridge, but then...oh I was so under stress today.
And I'm really failing to come up with a single decent excuse.
I can already imagine my mom-in-law asking, "Did you guys eat our ice-cream?". And my husband would be like, "Nooo, why would we do that?". "Oh, it's just I memorized the exact location of the curves from our ice cream scoop AND... any idea what ever happened to our 14 slices of American cheese turning into 12?"
Yeah, not happening. This starts reminding me of the times when I would carefully take out my uncle's magazines with something I wasn't supposed to look at, only to put it back PRECISELY the way they were. I wonder if he figured that out and laughed at my meager attempts to conceal my teenage curiosity in that seemingly forbidden field. Yup, I bet he even told my parents.
Back to the values and something serious for once. It really sucks when you are honest and people say "Don't lie to me". Makes me want to lie kind of. They already expect it.
lol, I bet it's because they are your in-laws that you feel devious about it =D Kind of makes sense. I know I can't take one step through my boyfriend's parents' house without wondering if they are thinking, "what the hell?"
ReplyDelete=D It's okay. We take utensils from restaurants...
You are back!!!!! I am obviously very excited ;)
ReplyDeleteShelly, utensils? It's awful hahaha Yep, it's almost like you described, so different when it's with in-laws. I'm at my parents' now and I don't even think to ask before I ravage their fridge :)
