What causes you to write?

It's hard to start posting again after you haven't done so in a while. I get those annoying 'Who really cares?', 'I don't like my writing. It's way too boring/weird/embarrassing/narcissistic...' stuck in my mind. Oftentimes such periods of blogging silence make you lose those few loyal followers you had a pleasure of having, and push you into questions you probably have asked at the very beginning.

Why to blog if I was rather fine typing things up in a notepad or laying them out in my head just like if I were writing?

I want to share, but every time I really want to share, it's usually something dark and depressing. Happy moods somehow don't call for much writing with me. So, when I'm off the grid here, most likely everything is going well.......or I'm out of the country with no Internet connection =P

Like someone said:
"It’s a shame that I only feel the need to post when I am down. I just want you to know that normally, I am a happy person. My life is not as bad as it may seem by reading my posts."
What a popular sentiment among bloggers. Hey, that's me right there. Yet there are still surprisingly enough people quite eager to consume the works of most miserable souls.

As if sadness sparks creativity... Just think how many decent poets and writers humanity would've lost if their lives were all hunky-dory.
